Welcome to the MobiComp Simple Tour Guide. This project came about because we needed a simple guide system for smart phones in a hurry. Five years ago this would have required a significant programming effort but now, with the help of the W3C Geolocation API and the Google Maps JavaScript API the problem reduces to a simple web page, a JavaScript program of less than two hundred lines, a KML file containing the points, lines, polygons and associated text, and a PNG image file for the current location cursor.
